Stateline Amateur Radio Services is a 501 (c)(3) NONPROFIT Organization and was formed simply for the critical importance of Emergency communications, communications systems, education, storm spotter seminars, storm safety seminars, testing, and training from within and/or with or from outside Emergency Services and Amateur Radio organizations for their members and/or for the public for emergency and disaster awareness. We are facing some  serious problems with this in our service area including Rockford, IL which happens to be the 3rd largest city area and the 4th largest city with population in the State of Illinois. One of the most important situations we have in life is public safety. Safety is number one concern for the public today.

Stateline Amateur Radio Services, formed with a small group of dedicated FCC (Federal Communications Commission) licensed Amateur Radio operators which includes a very dedicated highly decorated individual in many organizations in Emergency Services. We decided to take on this extremely important task of developing a way for a capability we have never seen in our service area. A communication system capable of covering 5 to 7 counties, a linked repeater system so as all counties can communicate together in and for any Disaster and Emergency situations. Emergency Service Amateur Radio organizations and other Emergency Services and/or public safety organizations could now have a capability to utilize our tower communication systems with a repeater system of their own possibly for that particular county, multiple repeater communication systems per tower site. This eliminates any and all issues that multiple Emergency Services organizations face and have to battle each and every year for tower space for their communications repeater systems. There have been several tower buyouts, towers come down over horrendous storms and tornados, etc. which are causing more and more loss in communication systems as well as the fact it is time for this area to have our own tower sites, Emergency communication systems, repeater systems and development of a serious Emergency Services communication system to cover from Boone and Winnebago County, Illinois to the Iowa border which covers much rural area with great importance and roughly 5 to 7 counties. One of the most critical factors in this organization is the fact that we are all about Emergency Services communications, Amateur Radio communications, ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services), communications over and for Public Safety so the public could have the capability of earlier warning systems over storms, tornados, floods, etc. and direct communications over emergencies, weather, fires, public in need, etc.

Stateline Amateur Radio services initial plan is to start with Winnebago county (Rockford metro area), Boone, and part of Stephenson and Ogle counties with the 1st tower site. The first order of business is to find, obtain, and purchase a commercial tower 190-200 foot (already obtained tower), then piece of property to hold our 1st 200 foot commercial tower system capable of holding up to 7 repeater communications systems as well as 1 or 2 satellite communications systems. One or 2 repeater spots will  be left open initially per tower communications site for an Emergency Services type Amateur Radio organization within a county of which is within the tower  communications site service area. Winnebago county will be the 1st priority due to the size and matter of the Rockford, IL metro and Winnebago county area.  The 2nd complete tower repeater communications site is planned for Freeport,  IL area, (Stephenson county) to cover an additional 3-4 counties and a repeater linked with the Winnebago county communications tower site. We will also have to  implement complete power back-up systems for each tower site in any case of power outages.

We plan to pay for each site and all equipment through donations and fundraising which is crucial for Stateline Amateur Radio Services.
